We continue to work on persuasive/opinion writing. This is challenging because the standards say that the kids need an introduction, must state their opinion, provide supporting reasons and details AND have a conclusion. This is not narrative story telling, which most of our kids can do very well. Ways to help at home... Discuss things like food items at dinner, do you like chicken nuggets or grilled chicken better? Why? Green beans or corn. Which is eSier to spread: peanut butter or jelly? Why? Do you want to read, or do math homework first? Why?
I realized on my way home that I made an oops on homework. Please switch wednesday's email topic with Thursday's topic. Doing spelling homework AFTER the test, is kind of like closing the screen door after the cat sneaks out!
In math we will continue adding, subtracting, and counting money but will also begin measurement again by friday.
Parent stuff- tomorrow is HLES night at Stevie B's. The valentine dance next week, flyer goes home tomorrow. Please fill out survey in manila envelope, and send back to school. "Give Me 5" contest is going on at school. Field trip papers went home last week in orange folders please return both soon.
